It all started in 1997, when Lyn was introduced to miniatures thanks to a friend named Mark. Mark used to play D&D in high school and noticed that Lyn had an interest in fantasy characters and stories. Upon this discovery, he figured he would show her his collection of Dungeons & Dragons books and miniatures. Mark was kind enough to show her how to paint the miniatures, and right away she was hooked. From then on, miniature painting became a part of her life.
There were a few times in life that miniature painting became a saving grace when life threw her challenges. One of those times, she decided that she wanted to share the hobby with others and be one of the leaders of the growing hobby community. One of the ways that she accomplishes this is by teaching classes at conventions and local game stores, as well as sharing ideas and teachings online via social media, articles, and her YouTube channel, and in person at conventions and gaming events.
MetalHead Minis classes started in August 2009, at GenCon Indy with the Beginner Painting Class. At this point Lyn was already working with over 20 years of teaching and training experience, so teaching came naturally. Since the classes went successfully, it was decided to full put together classes that cater to every learning style (auditory, visual, and kinesthetic learning) and consistently maintain a high-quality learning experience filled with fun and encouragement.

Residing in Alaska, long winter hours and lack of sun and bitter cold has caused an extreme deficit in serotonin. Seeking a way of filling that most vital chemical void, I started my journey back in 1990 to travel the globe and learn from the best the wargaming and hobby community has to offer. While still painting and learning I found a love for leathercraft and combining my knowledge of both to create works the wargaming community could both use and be proud to display. Nowadays living with two cats Erebus & Gráinne I toil away the long sunless nights and longer nightless days painting for friends, competitions, and fun.
